3 Homeopathic Remedies for Anxiety

Since Covid disrupted our world, anxiety has become more and more a part of our lives. It’s not welcome but yet it persists. Anxiety is something I personally have struggled with since I was a child and homeopathy is been one of the keys that has helped me overcome and live a peaceful productive life. There are some great homeopathic remedies for anxiety that can help you temporarily overcome your anxiety in the moment.

What is Anxiety?

Before we jump to the remedies, I would like to take a brief moment to define what Anxiety is.

According to Medline, anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread and uneasiness.

This picture has given me hope. Before I felt like something was wrong with me, that I was broken, doomed to always suffer anxiety, when anxiety is simply an alarm system.

Here are some symptoms that anxiety has produced. I’m sure there are more symptoms, this is just a brief list.

  • Loss of appetite
  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Restlessness

Issues that Anxiety may be warning me about

When I get anxious, I have found that there are several triggers that off set it off.

  • Misalignment
  • Mold exposure
  • Overuse of caffeine, sugar or prescription drugs
  • Lack of certain vitamins/minerals
  • Emotional stress
  • Bitterness
  • Running away from God (Take a look at the story of Jonah in the Bible)

The last two hit me, as I found when I hold onto anger towards those who have hurt them and dwell on it, it turns into bitterness. Then I become anxious about that situation and whenever similar personalities come into my life, I tend to reject them without giving them a chance.

Treatment options for anxiety

There are lots of options available; a simple google search of how to treat anxiety naturally can be overwhelming. These are some of the options that I have used over the years in my search for freedom from anxiety

  • Physical activity, a healthy diet, regular sleep, and relaxation exercises

Caution! For the anxiety to go away, the root problem HAS to be dealt with.

To be honest, praying & talking to God has been the best for dealing long term with anxiety.

Aconite

This homeopathic remedy is made from the flower, wolf bane.

It is a key remedy for any type of shock; after a car accident, receiving bad news, finding yourself confronted or in a situation where you have to face fear.

There may be a restlessness with outbursts of anger; children who need aconite may throw tantrums where nothing the parent does can calm them down.

Dosing: The more intense the fear, the higher the potency and the more often you may need to take it.

Keynote: anxiety hits you suddenly and intensely

Gelsemium

I wish I knew about this remedy earlier as I would have given it to my younger sister when she was still in school. My sister would stress about exams/tests daily, till the time the test came, she would get sick.

This remedy is excellent for anxiety that builds, and bring a sense of heaviness. The person may be depressed but can’t cry, desires to be alone, dull/confused and when stressed becomes apathetic and physically exhausted.

Keynote: anxiety is slow to come on, feeling of heaviness and unable to focus

Arsenicum

 This remedy is good when a person is generally anxious, restless & fussy and critical. Anxiety is worse at night. Dislikes being in a situation where they aren’t in control. There is a fear of being alone, or of death. There may be irritability which can lead to depression, or despair of getting well again.

Keynote: critical, worse at night, especially between midnight and 2 am
