Homeopathy is a SYSTEM of medicine, that is used in a variety of methods.
Here are a few methods that I have come across:
- Classical homeopathy
- Banerji Protocols & Practical Homeopathy
- Narayani remedies
- Tom Jansen’s Homeopathic Detox Therapy
- Integrative homeopathy
Each person is different and different methods or combinations of methods may be needed. The issue now is: finding a homeopath that uses a method of homeopathy that works for you.
This post covers my experience using Banerji Protocols.
Banerji Protocols & Practical Homeopathy
My mom first introduced me to them after listening to a webinar where a homeopath talked about using these protocols in his practice. My mom was intrigued and bought the books.
Homeopaths that mainly use Banerji protocols often use the name of Practical Homeopathy. This is a term coined by Joette Calabrese, the Founder and Director of the Academy of Practical Homeopathy.
Practical Homeopathy is condition-based homeopathy. Practical homeopaths use your symptoms, and often your diagnosis, as a guide to determining your protocols.
What are Banerji Protocols?
Banerji Protocols are specific homeopathic medicine combinations to treat a specific disease or ailment.
Who invented the Banerji Protocols?
It was a family effort. In India, a doctor’s son, Prasanta Banerji, worked in a free clinic with hundreds of patients who were treated free of charge. Going off of what he had learned and experienced, Prasanta Banerji thought seriously about the need to standardize treatment protocols for the treatment of all diseases and ailments. Based on this thought, he prescribed specific homeopathic medicines for specific diseases – as done in conventional medical treatment – often with specific potencies and dosage patterns, and often in combination with other homeopathic medicines.
He along with other family members and doctors that worked with them, came up with over 450 + protocols that were called by his family name. He wrote a book that you can purchase. For more details, you can read more about his life at this website.
How do Banerji Protocols work?
Two or more remedies in different potencies are given at a time at certain intervals. Often, the client is instructed to start with a clearing remedy before beginning the protocol.
My experience with Banerji Protocols
After a work injury, I started seeing a local homeopath who also was an occupational therapist. I was super stressed, flustered about not being able to work and my anxiety was through the roof. The homeopath gave me some remedies and then gave me the Banerji protocol for high blood pressure to take as my blood pressure was high.
Banerji Protocol For High Blood Pressure
Rhus Tox 30C mixed with Aconitum 200CK which are dosed as 2 pills of each, taken at the same time and dosed twice daily.
Then Glonoinum 30C dosed 30 minutes after above step – taken as 2 pills also, twice daily.
I was a bit skeptical about using remedies to treat a symptoms versus the whole person, but I gave it a try.
It was amazing how taking those remedies dropped my blood pressure. I only needed to take the remedies for 3 weeks and after that my blood pressure stayed normal.
I was so grateful as now I was able to relax, enjoy the time I needed to take a break from working and be open to the new adventure ahead of me.
Downsides I have found to the Banerji protocols
I have found that Banerji protocols are best given by a homeopath practitioner who has a background in traditional medicine as you have to understand how the body works and the diagnosis in order to best choose the protocol to follow. I have used Banerji protocols for eye conditions in clients with varying success, and in the future, it is a tool that I may use at times for specific diagnoses.
Conclusion
Banerji protocols are great for homeopathically treating a diagnosis. It is a bit different as normally homeopaths give the remedy based on the individual. When homeopaths give remedies based on diagnoses, its often called Practical Homeopathy but it is still a good way of doing homeopathy.
For more information on using Banerji protocols, here is a good article that is written by a homeopath who treats mainly with Banerji protocols and has some good tips on using them.
Homeopathy is amazing and I so enjoy learning the different ways people are using it to help their body heal.
